In a week’s time, multiple car burglaries were reported on the southwest side of Dixon, Illinois.

Police announced the burglary reports on Monday, December 28, 2015 and said that in all of the incidents, none of the cars were locked.

On Sunday, December 27, one residential burglary and three attempted residential burglaries were reported, according to Dixon Police.  In one of the attempted burglaries, the person or people who tried to break in were using keys they had taken from an unlocked car. The burglary was foiled because the homeowners were there.

Police say the suspects are in their late teens.

To prevent having your car broken into, or having your house burglarized, police are reminding residents to:

  1. Lock your car and home
  2. Take valuables out of your car
  3. Try to park in a well-lit place
  4. Install an alarm system in your vehicle

If your car has been burglarized, notify police immediately, and try not to touch anything that might be used as evidence. You can contact Detective Garza or Detective Simonton at 815-288-4411.
