A local funeral home is doing its part to make the holiday season a little brighter.

Trimble Funeral Home, which also runs Veterans Funeral Care, is kicking off the "Operation Toy Soldier" Campaign in the Quad Cities.  "Operation Toy Soldier" is a national program that sponsors community toy drives across the country.

Trimble, located at 701 12th Street in Moline, is collecting donations of new, unwrapped toys for the children of active and non-active duty military from now until December 16th. In 2014, 190 toys were collected. The goal in 2015 is 250.

"The neat thing about our drive is every one of the toys goes directly to an active military here and directly to their children," said Reid Trimble, Funeral Director of Trimble Funeral Home.

WaterMark Corners, 1500 River Drive in Moline, is also collecting donations. If you buy a toy from there, you receive a 25% discount. Also, for each toy donated, the donor receives a $5.00 coupon from WaterMark.
