Significant number of casualties likely after Asia quake

A significant earthquake was reported in Afghanistan on Monday. The USGS gives the magnitude a preliminary magnitude of 7.5 on the Magnitude-Moment Scale.

The USGS has issued an orange alert this morning as “Significant casualties are likely and the disaster is potentially widespread. Past events with this alert level have required a regional or national level response.”
