Roughly two weeks after longtime restaurant "Bud's Skyline Inn" in Moline closed down, the Quad Cities International Airport agreed to buy it.

The purchase of the property was approved on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the Rock Island County Metropolitan Airport Authority meeting. The owner of Bud's, Charles Bud Canfield, is retiring, and the agreement is for the airport to buy the restaurant property as well as Canfield's house, located next to the property.

Officials hope that a new restaurant can fill that space.

"You've got these very popular restaurants that are on the Iowa side like Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Biaggi's... We think that a major restaurant with retail is going to be very popular for this side of town," said Bruce Carter with the Quad Cities International Airport.

The airport planned to combine the two-and-a-half acre site with the former "Flick's Store" for a brand new development.
