Baseball fans in the Quad Cities helped Modern Woodmen beat some attendance records during the 2015 season.  This attendance spike comes alongside a record set within the entire Midwest League.

Overall for the Midwest League, nearly 50,000 more fans filled the stands this year, helping to beat the previous record set in 2010. The regular season’s record-breaking attendance totaled 4,233,904 fans. The old record from 2010 was 4,184,843.

The records set at Modern Woodmen Park were for the “highest per-game average” and five of the “largest single-game home crowds.”

At the Davenport ballpark, there was an average of 3,906 fans per game, which set a new record for the highest per-game average for a season; this includes the River Bandits’ 56-year history.

The 2015 season also brought five of the largest single-game home crowds since 2002, all filling the stands with at least 7,106 fans.  The largest single-game attendance was on July 31 when 8,207 fans went to the game.

“The quarter-million fans who came to the ballpark this season showed again why the Quad Cities is the No. 1 minor league sports market,” said River Bandits owner Dave Heller.

“With their record-setting support, our fans have put their outstanding mark on a memorable season of River Bandits baseball,” said General Manager Andrew Chesser.

As for the entire Midwest League, into the 2015 post season, an extra 32,479 fans filled the stands.  This was the largest turnout since 2010, when 34,686 fans showed up for the playoffs.

The River Bandits record for single-season attendance was set in 1994, when 260,471 fans attended the games.
