On Sunday, July 12th, 2015, a fully-restored vintage train was unveiled at the Dan Nagle Walnut Grove Pioneer Village in Long Grove, Iowa.

The 1910 NE6 Class Caboose was used by the Rock Island Line. It was donated to the Pioneer Village in 1977.

However, more than 30 years sitting in the rain and snow did a number on the wooden train. That inspired workers and volunteers to give it a makeover over the last two years.

"We wanted to open it up so that people could get a chance to see it," said Roger Kean, Scott County Conservation Board. "The kids can play on it for the rest of the summer, but it was also an opportunity for us to recognize all the hard work that our staff put into it."

Kean said they spent more than 1,700 man hours working on the restoration.
