Family and friends of Justin Lockett delivered a $7,000 check to the Iowa Donor Network on Thursday, June 4, 2015 in his memory.

Lockett died in May 2014 after suffering a brain injury when he fell down a set of stairs. He was 30 years old.

"He made so many friends. I mean, we'd go out and he'd make new friends every time we went out and everyone liked to be around him. You felt like you were his friend after you just met him just one time," said his wife, Kate Lockett.

As an organ donor, Lockett's lungs, heart, liver, kidneys, pancreas, bone, connective tissues, and skin were given to people in need. His descending thoracic aorta was donated for research.

"Most of the recipients have three to five children, so not only do those people get to keep their father, most of them are dads, Justin gets to live on in them and know that he was able to give back," said Kate.

But Kate wanted to do more.

"We wanted to do another celebration of his life and remember him and raise money for the Iowa Donor Network," she said.

In May 2015, an event called Rusty Revolution was held at O'Keefe's in Moline. With the help of the bar's owner, the event raised $7,000, with all of the proceeds going to the Iowa Donor Network.

"I think he'd be happy, proud and glad that we're still celebrating his life and that he's able to give back,  you know. If you pass away, the least you can do is give away your organs that someone else could use, so I think he'd be happy about that," said Kate.

She plans to hold a Rusty Revolution event again next year.
