U.S. Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois, and Senator Bill Nelson of Florida, have placed a friendly wager on the Stanley Cup series between the Chicago Blackhawks and Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Blackhawks are playing for the National Hockey League championship for the third time in six years. They won the Western Conference Finals by defeating the Anaheim Ducks in game seven of the best-of-seven-games series.
“Durbin has wagered Chicago’s famous Garrett Mix popcorn and 312 beer from Goose Island Brewery while Nelson countered with a box of some of Tampa’s and Florida’s famous Cuban sandwiches. And to make it a bit more interesting, the two lawmakers agreed that the loser would work off the food by doing a number of pushups equal to the total number of goals scored in the series,” said a statement from Ben Marter from Durbin’s office.
The Stanley Cup best-of-seven series begins in Tampa at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2015.
