At the Iowa GOP Lincoln Dinner on Saturday, May 16, 2015, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker was the last to speak.
He used part of his ten minute speech to talk about his accomplishments as governor, including defunding Planned Parenthood and passing pro-life legislation, passing concealed carry, becoming the 25th right-to-work state, and requiring photo ID to vote.
In June 2011, Governor Walker signed a budget bill that eliminated all state funding for Planned Parenthood Health Centers in Wisconsin. And, according to Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin, restricted abortion services at the University of Wisconsin Hospital.
In March, Wisconsin became the 25th state in the Country to pass right-to-work legislation. The bill makes it a crime for businesses and labor unions to force employees to pay union dues. This came four years after controversial legislation was passed that effectively ended collective bargaining for public-sector workers.
In 2011, Governor Walker signed a law requiring voter ID to vote. At the time, the law was considered to be one of the most restrictive in the country, a federal judge later declared the law unconstitutional. However, in March, the Supreme Court announced it would not hear a challenge to the law, clearing the way for it to go into effect.
