Woman and toddler killed when truck lands upside down in creek

A two-year-old child and a 20-year-old woman died when the truck they were traveling in crashed and landed upside-down in a creek northwest of Maquoketa, Iowa.

Ellen Edwards of Bernard, Iowa, was driving a 1995 Chevrolet C25 truck northbound on 86th Avenue when she crested a hill, then lost control as the truck was headed downhill Friday, April 24, 2015, according to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol.

The truck slid sideways, hit the railing, went through the railing and came to rest upside-down in the creek near Bernard Road.

Edwards and two-year-old Joseph Paul Edwards were tekan by ambulance to a hospital where they were pronounced dead.
