Firefighters were called to an apartment fire early Wednesday morning, April 15, 2015 at the Pine Ridge Apartments on 41st Street in Moline, just north of Panera Bread. One person was found dead.
Firefighters say the call came in around 4:30 a.m. When they got on scene, there was smoke visible but no flames inside.
An elderly man, later identified as 80-year-old Donnie M. Blair, died in the fire. The Rock Island County Coroner said Blair's death was related to smoke inhalation.
Toxicology reports were pending Wednesday afternoon.
