It seems like old times with a twist for Hillary Clinton.

Rather than speak before hundreds of folks, she launched her Iowa presidential campaign with a small group of students and teachers in Monticello, Iowa.

"I never thought I would be sitting here telling you that I'm running for president," she said.  "But I knew if I got a good education, I did my part."

Using an auto tech classroom at Kirkwood Community College as a backdrop, this early appearance focused on education and the economy.

These are important themes for largely rural Jones County.

"That's the basis of everything," said student Andrew Lorimer.  "If you destroy the college system, then you don't have much of an economy.  It's a good comment she made."

This is a new start for Hillary Clinton in Iowa.  After placing third in the 2008 Iowa Caucuses, she's established as the clear Democratic frontrunner this time.

Just being a part of the process is exciting for the satellite campus.

"We think it's a great opportunity," said Kirkwood President Dr. Mick Starcevich.  "It's a great learning experience for our students, and we want them to feel the experience."

Even though some early poll numbers are slipping, this is all about a fresh start with a familiar face.

It's a chance to offer new opportunities and strategy in the Hawkeye state.

"Getting our economy to work again, so that it can address the economy of tomorrow, not yesterday," she concluded.

A long road to the White House that started with this stop in Monticello, Iowa.
