A Galena man died when the vehicle he was driving went off the roadway and overturned.

Sheriff's deputies were called to the scene in the 5500 block of West Stagecoach Trail just before 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2015.  They arrived to find a vehicle overturned in the ditch along the north side of the road.

"(The vehicle) had been travelling east (and) had crossed the westbound lane, entered the ditch on the north side of the road, overturned, and came to rest in the ditch," according to a preliminary crash report from the Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Department.

The driver, 57-year-old David O'Donnell of Galena, was declared dead at the scene.  O'Donnell was the only occupant in the vehicle, and no other vehicles were involved.
