Davenport resident Carol Cox went home with a 2007 Ford Focus from Sexton Ford on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 in Moline. Cox won the car on January 15, 2015 in a drawing that benefited QC Crime Stoppers.
Contestants bought raffle tickets through Sexton Ford for a chance to win the car. Employees at Sexton Ford say about 2,500 people bought raffle tickets throughout the four-month campaign. Sexton Ford donated all the tickets sales to QC Crime Stoppers. The dealership was able to raise more than $9,000 for the agency. Cox says she was thrilled when she found out that she won the car.
"I heard there were a lot of people that put in money for this car," Cox said Tuesday. " So with all the money that's going to be going to Crime Stoppers, it's great."
Also Tuesday, Crime Stoppers gave back more than $4,500 of the money they received from the dealership. They gave it to high schools like Moline and Riverdale, who helped sell tickets during the campaign.
