A new schedule was proposed that would change school hours and lunch schedules for students at Rock Island High School, but before any changes happen, they’re taking your feedback.

The school day would start at 8 a.m. under the new schedule; enrichment periods currently held between 7:45 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. would be moved to a slot between second and third periods.

“The extra session between 2nd and 3rd periods would also be used for Rock Time for those not needing the Enrichment Period,” said a statement on the RIHS website.

Lunch periods would also begin earlier to allow for five separate lunch shifts instead of the current four lunch shifts.

Parents and students can leave their feedback on the proposed new schedule in an online feedback form on the school’s website – click here.  Feedback is also accepted by phone during school day hours at 309-793-5950.

“We are taking feedback through January 30,” said district spokeswoman Holly Sparkman.

The proposed schedule would still require approval from the district’s board of education.
