The Republican Women of Rock Island County went to Springfield on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 to show their support for State Senator Neil Anderson.

In November of 2014, Anderson beat Mike Jacobs for Illinois' 36th district, 54 to 46 percent. About $3.6 million was spent on the race. It's the most expensive legislative race in Illinois history. Jacobs had served as State Senator for the 36th district since 2005. Before that, Jacobs' father Denny was the State Senator in the district since 1987. Anderson discussed his legislative goals with News 8 on January 8, 2015.

"I think the biggest challenge for any new legislator is just learning how things work and building relationships," Anderson said. "To me and any new legislator, trust is a big issue, and you have to build that rapport, and people have to trust you."

The Republican Women of Rock Island County left for Springfield around 7 a.m. Wednesday. Anderson was sworn in around noon Wednesday.
