What an amazing difference from last year when we had 13.8 inches of snow in the Quad Cities December 2013. This December? Nothing more than a few flurries. And there’s no snowfall in our forecast through the end of the month. So we’ve got to set our sights way out on the extended forecast for something more interesting.

While this weekend will be dry, next weekend may be a little more wintry. There are signs that a sizable low pressure system will work across the Central U.S. This could provide us with a decent amount of snow. However, this is way out there and the details will probably not be resolved until we head into the middle of next week. To put it this way, getting this forecast right is like hitting the bulls-eye on a dartboard from the 50 yard line. Our accuracy will get better, just as it would be moving closer to the target.  But the chance is there that if I lob it exactly in the right direction, the forecast will be right. That’s why we get more detailed as we get closer.
