River Drive Exit Ramp on I-74 Re-opens in Moline

Drivers traveling down River Drive in Moline can expect to see construction crews out this week.

Drivers traveling down River Drive in Moline can expect to see construction crews out this week.

Starting Monday, December 8, 2014, Miller Trucking & Excavating began work at the intersection of River Drive and 23rd Street.

Only northbound traffic on 23rd Street will be allowed through at River Drive.

Work is expected to be complete on Friday, December 12.

Also if weather cooperates Monday, the section of River Drive between 23rd Street and the I-74 exit ramp will have pavement markings placed.

“This will allow traffic traveling southbound on I-74 from Iowa to exit to River Drive and use the new pavement to access 23rd Street and downtown Moline,” according to a statement from the Illinois Department of Transportation.

The entrance ramp to I-74 and the section of River Drive from the interstate ramps to 19th Street will stay closed until paving is finished next spring.

The project was contracted to McCarthy Improvement Company for $6.9 million. It started back in September.
