“We appreciate the Crawford Cares program and are grateful for the funding. Crawford Cares is a program that gives back to the Greater Dubuque Area. Crawford Cares is an effort to make a positive impact in the community by honoring entities with personalized awards, recognition and charitable donations. To be eligible, the nominees had to be Dubuque area 501(c)3 organizations and nominated by a local resident. All nominees had to serve local causes for the purpose of having a positive impact on the region. The organizations were also required to demonstrate they were mission focused and operating on limited resources.

“We are grateful for the award to Shalom House and we wish Crawford Company well in Dubuque,” Karen Knepper said from Shalom House.

Twelve non-profits were initially nominated. Over 2,000 votes were cast throughout the Dubuque community to narrow the field to the three finalists. In the final round, a review committee made up of non-Crawford employees, determined the overall winner.

The other nominees included: National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium, Hillcrest Family Services, St. Mark Youth Enrichment, Friends of Dubuque County Conservation Board, Dubuque Phlockers, Young Professionals Dubuque – Community Days of Caring, Crescent Community Health and Wellness Center, Klarify Foundation, and Dubuque County Fair Association.

“Crawford is committed to the communities we serve,” said Ian Frink, Crawford vice president. “We’re gratified there has been so much interest in this effort. It shows Dubuque is a community that cares.”
