U.S. Bank donated a $20,000 check to the Quad Cities Food Hub on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at the hub's store, inside the Freight House Marketplace in Davenport.

U.S. Bank Regional President Kenneth Koupal and Community Affairs Manager Jeanne Miller presented the check Thursday. The money, along with a $600,000 grant from the U.S. Health and Human Services Department, will support 30 new jobs within the hub. The food hub and grocery store promotes local food production through education and training programs.

Food Hub Exectutive Director Carla Jaquet also said there are many food deserts in the Quad City area.  A food desert exists when there is no access to fresh and healthy foods.
