Amtrak is adding an extra round-trip between Quincy and Chicago for the Thanksgiving travel rush.
The added round-trip will run the Sunday after Thanksgiving, November 30 via Galesburg, according to a statement from Amtrak.
Normally Amtrak originates two daily morning and evening round-trips. In order to run the additional round-trip, a train will leave Chicago 20 minutes later than usual and work around Quincy’s schedule just for that day.
Going from Chicago to Quincy, the November 30th schedule is as follows:
The morning train will leave at 7:35 p.m. and arrive at 12:03 p.m. The extra train will leave at 11:30 a.m. and arrive at 2:17 p.m. The night train will leave at 6:15 p.m. and arrive at 10:43 p.m.
Going from Quincy to Chicago, the November 30th schedule is as follows:
The morning train will leave at 6:12 a.m. and arrive at 10:40 a.m. The extra train will leave at 1 p.m. and arrive at 5:28 p.m. The night train will leave at 5:30 p.m. and arrive at 9:58 p.m.
It is recommended that train passengers book their tickets early for best availability, best pricing, and to avoid a last-minute rush.
