Police say a Galesburg man was arrested in Peoria when he was caught taking copper from a home.

On Wednesday, November 5, Marcus E. Bland, 37, was arrested in Peoria while he was in the process of “committing a burglary in which he was removing copper from an unoccupied residence,” a statement from the City of Galesburg read.

Galesburg Police determined that Bland had been making trips between Galesburg and Peoria, where there had been similar reports of stolen copper, the statement said.

Arrest warrants were issued Wednesday, November 12, 2014 for Bland in connection with a series of home break-ins where copper was stolen in Galesburg, according to a statement from the City of Galesburg.

Bland was in custody at the Peoria County Jail.  Five Knox County arrest warrants for residential burglaries had been issued for him. He was held on $150,000 bond.
