Scott County opens new learning center

Children in the Scott County area will have a new place to play and learn.

Children in the Scott County area will have a new place to play and learn.

The Scott County Family YMCA held its ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of their new Early Learning Center on Thursday, August 14, 2014.

The center is aimed at meeting the developmental needs of young children ages 6-weeks to 5-years old.

Children enrolled in the programs will have the opportunities to create, explore their environment, and develop problem-solving and personal interaction skills.

“It was great today because we had the children here with us who were a little bit noisy and I invited them to be a little bit noisy during the dedication because after all, the center’s for them,” said Doug Cropper with the Scott County Family Y.

The cost of the project was $50,000.
