If you canoe or kayak, the fifth annual Floatzilla paddlesports festival is your big chance to help set a Guinness World Record.

River Action is hosting the family event Saturday,m August 16, 2014 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

They’re trying to break the Guinness World Record for the largest flotilla of canoes and kayaks at one gathering.  They need 2,100 paddlers to get there.

You can paddle in from one of five launch sites, or put in directly at Lake Potter and Sunset Park in Rock Island.  If you don’t have a canoe or kayak, they can hook you up with a local outfitter who can rent you a canoe or kayak for the event.

After the group photo and official count, there will be live music and food vendors at the after-float party at the Rock Island Boat Club.

Registration is $20 per paddler and includes free parking, shuttles, a decal and a Floatzilla t-shirt.
