Jurors in Scott County deliberated for about four hours before they returned a guilty verdict for an Iowa man who killed his pregnant wife.

Seth Techel, 23, was charged with first-degree murder and non-consensual termination of a human pregnancy in connection with the death of his pregnant wife. Prosecutors alleged he killed 23-year-old Lisa Techel May 26, 2012, so he could continue a romantic relationship with one of his co-workers.

Lisa Techel was 17 weeks pregnant when she died.

Seth Techel claimed he was in the shower when an unknown intruder shot his wife in their Agency, Iowa home.

Techel’s third trial was moved to Scott County after jurors in two previous trials, held in Wapello and Henry counties, were unable to reach a verdict.

Techel remained in the Scott County Jail.

Court records showed Techel was scheduled to be sentenced September 8, 2014.
