Two men have been sentenced to prison for selling various drugs in the Davenport area for more than a decade.

According to U.S. Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt 34-year-old Delbert Lorenzo Sykes, Jr. and 30-year-old Darross Tyrese Sykes were convicted of conspiracy to distribute cocaine base, cocaine, and marijuana.

Klinefeldt said that from the early 2000s to roughly August of 2013, Delbert and Darross worked together and with others to sell cocaine base, cocaine, and marijuana in the Davenport area. During that time, police conducted numerous undercover buys from both Delbert and Darross.

In August of 2013, police searched homes that were associated with Delbert and Darross. At Delbert’s home, police found $130,400- which included drug proceeds, a Ruger .40 caliber handgun, ammunition, a digital scale with cocaine residue, and packaging material.

The other homes that police searched, all in Davenport, also contained items associated with drug trafficking, according to Klinefeldt.

On Thursday, July 17, 2014 U.S. District Judge Stephanie M. Rose sentenced Delbert to nine years in prison and sentenced Darross to six years. Both must serve four years of supervised release after they get out of prison and will have to pay $100 toward the Crime Victims Fund.

Judge Rose also ordered that the $130,400, a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro that is registered to Delbert, and a Ruger .40 caliber handgun and ammo be forfeited.
