The White House announced plans on Friday to launch the Supplier Pay initiative.

It's designed to boost small businesses in places like Bettendorf.

That's where Salon Aria is a small business success story.

After a decade in Davenport, the mother-daughter salon remains on the cutting edge. Friday's grand opening in Bettendorf represents hard work and dedication at their second location.

"I think that's what makes us unique," said Christine McClimon, who owns the salon with her mother, Peggy Andriano. "I think that's kind of the foundation of the Quad Cities."

The White House wants to speed payments to small suppliers by large companies. More than two dozen big firms are on board.

More than 60% of private sector jobs come from small businesses. That's why they're so critical to the economy.

It could mean a lot to the Middle Road Plaza. This new development features an upcoming hotel and stores.

Salon Aria shows how starting small can pay big dividends.

"It's what America is all about," said Steve Van Dyke, Bettendorf's economic development director. "It's what Bettendorf is all about."

The national initiative aims at showing that a healthy supply chain is good for business.  It can lead to new opportunities, equipment and growth.

"I think it's fantastic when you see businesses expand and grow," said Daniel Joiner, Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce. "It speaks volumes to what's going on in our region."

Friday's ribbon cutting is a chance to salute Salon Aria's 30 employees. But it's also a time to look at the future. It's a future with plenty of potential.

"I'm so excited to be able to have more opportunities for my employees," McClimon concluded. "That means probably the most for me."

At this family business, it's success with style.

You'll find the new Salon Aria at 915 Middle Road in Bettendorf.
