There has been a change of plans for the Quad Cities Hy-Vee Kids Road Race because its original location is flooded.

The event has been moved from Credit Island Park to Duck Creek Park in Davenport and will take place Sunday, June 29, 2014 at 8 a.m., according to a spokesperson from Hy-Vee.

The road race is part of the 2014 Hy-Vee Kids Fit series, and is open to all kids ages 7-17. There will be a one-mile fun run and a timed 5k. The top 10 finishers from each age division in the 5k as well as those who meet time requirements will qualify to compete in the championship Hy-Vee Kids Road Race at the 2015 Drake Relays.

“We want to get kids involved in their own personal health just like adults,” said marketing director for the QC Hy-Vee stores, Debbie Geisler. “With childhood obesity on the rise, Hy-Vee is committed to helping kids become more active and taking those first steps toward a lifetime of health along with having some fun.”

Registration is open through Friday, June 27 online – click here. On-site registration will be available on Saturday, June 28 during packet pickup from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. and on Sunday, June 29 from 6:30 a.m. – 7:30 a.m. before the races begin.
