Genesis leaders and Mayor Gluba came together on Wednesday for a ceremonial groundbreaking to celebrate the expansion and renovation project of Genesis East.

The new facility will include an expanded trauma center and a seven story tower with twelve operating suites and state of the art equipment.

"It means for the community that we will be able to provide even more services on one location," said Doug Cropper, President and CEO of Genesis Health Services. "From a quality standpoint, any time we can put all of our volume into one location, [like] short term medical services, quality, safety, efficiency, all of that improves."

The entire project will cost a little over $140 million and will take three to four years to complete.
