Miss Scott County crowned 2014 Miss Iowa

Alysa Lou Olson, Miss Scott County, will represent Iowa in the 2014 Miss America Pageant.

Olson, 21, was Miss Scott County when she was named Miss Iowa at the 2014 pageant held Saturday, June 14, at the Adler Theatre in Davenport.

Miss Eastern Iowa, Stacy Phipps, of Eldridge, was first runner-up and Miss LeClaire, Molly McDonnell, of Clinton, was second runner-up.

Olson, who is from Des Moines, earned a $10,500 scholarship. She is a vocal performance major at the University of Iowa.

Marisa Buchheit, of Chicago, was crowned the new Miss Illinois at the state pageant held June 14. She is a trained opera singer, and art and choir teacher and the current Miss Chicago.

Olson and Buchheit will compete in the Miss America Pageant, set for September in Atlantic City.
