The U.S. Department of Labor released numbers that show the nation is recovering from the recession.
U.S. Secretary of Labor, Thomas E. Perez said Friday, June 6, 2014 that in May, 217,000 new jobs were created, which is the fourth month in a row that more than 200,000 new jobs have been available.
“The economy in May continued its steady recovery from the Great Recession,” Perez said, “and we have now added 9.4 million new private-sector jobs over 51 consecutive months.”
Perez said there were still 3.4 million people facing long-term unemployment, and the unemployment rate was holding steady at 6.3 percent.
