Sunshine and the red, white, and blue shined bright at St. Anthony's Nursing & Rehab Center in Rock Island on Friday, May 23.

Veterans of all ages were in attendance, including 107-year-old Army Veteran Charles Wilburn. It was a ceremony to honor those military members with us today, and those who have passed.

"This is awesome," Harry Scarff said, who served in the U.S. Army for 30 years.

It was a sign of respect and relief for veterans, in a time when scandal surrounds the VA.

St. Anthony's had a burger buffet that raised money to send local veterans on an honor flight to Washington D.C.

While this was the first year St. Anthony's held such an event, spokeswoman Staci Redman says there will be more of these events in the future.
