The Davenport Planning staff has recommended that the Planning and Zoning Commission send the St. Ambrose stadium plans on to the Davenport City Council.  Staff are suggesting many stipulations to the project though. The P&Z Commission could vote on this at their meeting Tuesday, May 20, 2014.

City staffers have helped put together a 313 page report for Tuesday's meeting. City staff would like police officers present, to help get fans across the street on game days. The police officer stipulation is one of many that city staffers have for this project.

St. Ambrose would like to build a 2,500 seat stadium near the corner of Gaines Street and West Central Park Avenue. The university would also like to upgrade the soccer fields and softball diamond that are there.

The P&Z Commission could vote for the staff's plans, vote against them, or table their vote. The meeting starts at 5 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall. The City Council will ultimately have the last say on whether the land is rezoned for the stadium. Residents can watch Tuesday's meeting from the Davenport Police Department if there are too many people inside the council chamber.
