We’ve already had a couple of episodes of severe weather locally but it’s that time of year when these events will become more common. In fact, as of right now Thursday has the potential for strong to severe storms.

We are always monitoring the weather and are here to bring you the latest forecasts, watches, and warnings. For those times you may not be at home or your power goes out there are other ways to get that information.

First and foremost there are NOAA weather radios. You can program them to send you alerts for specific areas to your liking. They are portable and battery operated which makes them convenient in inclement weather.options

The other way of getting that information is through our WQAD app. The last time I was on air during severe weather coverage I mentioned this app and received a couple of phone calls asking about it. It’s easy to use, convenient, and provides not only watches and warnings but you can actually see the latest radar images. You can adjust your settings to have it alert you for breaking news, weather or both.warnings

So many people have smartphones these days and many of us rely on them for just about anything. Why not severe weather? radar
