As UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island heads into the construction of their new Heart Center/Emergency Department, parking on the campus will be altered.
Since 150 parking spaces will be temporarily lost, starting May 1, 2014, some changes will be made to where employees and visitors will park.
“[W]ith growth comes the occasional growing pain that is a necessary part of development, so we’re doing everything we can to ease the transition for our patients and their guests,” said UnityPoint Trinity President and CEO Rick Seidler.
Parking spaces in the front of the hospital will be reserved for visitors. Employees working first-shift Monday through Friday will park at off-site lots to free up those spaces. Designated spaces will also be set for employees working on other shifts.
From 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, a golf cart shuttle will travel around the front parking lot to give visitors a ride to the door.
Free valet services will be offered at Trinity’s main entrance Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.
“Simply pull up to the front door and a valet attendant will park your car for you in a designated area,” said a spokesperson from Trinity.
The groundbreaking for the 90,000 square-foot expansion was held in June of 2013. The project’s cost is about $61.3 million and is the largest in the facility’s history. A spokesperson from the facility said the changes were designed to improve service for patients, reduce costs, and accommodate for crisis situations.
