Crash simulation meant to show dangers of after-prom drinking and driving

Davenport Firefighters and the faculty at Davenport North High School did a crash simulation called Operation Prom on Friday, April 25th, 2014. The simulation was to show the potential consequences of drinking and driving after prom.

Davenport North students have their prom Saturday, April 25th, 2014 at CASI in Davenport. The dance starts at 7 p.m.

The day before prom, students watched the aftermath of a fake two car collision. The crash was supposed to look like it killed one student.

Central High School in Davenport also has its prom Saturday night. Their prom starts at 7 p.m. at the Golden Leaf in Davenport near Kimberly Road and Elmore Avenue.

Alleman High School also has its prom Saturday. It starts at 8 p.m. at the Figge Art Museum.

Illinois State Police will be out in full force the next couple of weeks. Officers say that one-third of traffic accidents involving teens and alcohol, happen during April and May.
