Extended Video: 2014 Rescue Run

Runners got their hands in the mud, and some even fell into it, all to raise money for local volunteer fire departments.

Waves of brave runners took on a challenging mud obstacle course to support local first responders.

The 2014 Rescue Run was held on Saturday, April 19 at Hofmann Farms in Aledo, Illinois. The event raises money for the Seaton Volunteer Fire Department and the Aledo Fire Protection District.

The course was about 6-7 miles in length and had 24 obstacles including "live wires," "iron rings," and a "rescue rope climb."

"We want to make it something different," says Organizer, Brandon Hofmann. "Something unique for this area. Usually you have to travel quite a ways to go to something like this, so we wanted to bring something a little closer and out to the country area here."
