The city of Silvis is expecting to spend $203,000 less in 2015. City officials will meet on Tuesday to discuss the proposed budget.

Last year the city paid $203,000 to upgrade their police radio system, a one-time big ticket expense.

This year the expenditures are expected to back to normal, with only a few expenses on the proposed budget plan including two new police vehicles and a new truck for the city inspector.

"We've had two pretty good years. Our revenues are going to exceed our expenses again for the third straight year," said Silvis Mayor Tom Conrad.

Conrad said he attributes the better budget to city department heads spending within their means. He also said Silvis should expect to see an increased revenue due to new businesses moving into the area.
