A former Davenport, Iowa man was sentenced to serve more than five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography in November of 2013.

United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt said 29-year-old Matthew Scott Hiles was sentenced on Friday, March 28, 2014 to prison time, and was ordered to serve five years of supervised release after he gets out.

Klinefeldt said in April of 2013 a Davenport detective and member of the Internet Crimes Against Children task force conducted an online investigation which rendered pictures of child pornography on a computer later found to belong to Hiles. As part of a search warrant, police seized a computer and computer equipment from Hiles’ bedroom and found multiple child pornography images and videos.

According to the Department of Justice, Hiles must pay $100 toward the Crime Victims Fund and will be required to register as a sex offender.
