After his son underwent surgery to remove a tumor, the University of Iowa’s head basketball coach, Fran McCaffery announced that it was found to be malignant.
McCaffery’s son Patrick had surgery on Wednesday, March 19, 2014. On Friday McCaffery and his wife were told the tumor was malignant.
“Margaret and I would like to thank everyone again for the outpouring of support from across the country for our son Patrick and family this past week,” McCaffery said. “We appreciate everyone’s thoughts and prayers.”
McCaffery said they would visit doctors soon to determine Patrick’s course of treatment.
