It has been more than a half a year since former Rock Island County highway employee, Jim Geiger, was charged with felony theft and official misconduct. And just one day before he was expected back in court, a deal was reportedly reached.

According to the Rock Island County States Attorney John McGehee, in the deal reached Wednesday, March 5, 2014, Geiger agreed to pay $27,600 in back-pay and agreed to resign from the highway department.

For Geiger, this means he will not have a felony conviction on his record.

Previous reports indicate that Geiger had been accused of stealing from the county, in the form of fuel, property, and services.
