Royal Neighbors of America

Royal Neighbors of America has been selected as one of five finalists up for a national award.

USA Weekend magazine is honoring one organization the Make A Difference Day All-Star Award. The winner will get $10,000 from the Gannett Foundation.

A spokesperson from Royal Neighbors, located in Rock Island, said they are up for the award because of their 2013 Make A Difference Day project – Baskets of Hope. They are asking Quad City area residents to cast their votes once a day through March 4. Voting is done online – click here.

The project with the most votes wins.

Baskets of Hope was a project that Royal Neighbors chapters across the country participated in. They distributed 1,500 baskets filled with personal and motivational items for women who were turning their lives around. More than 220 baskets were donated to organizations in the Quad Cities.

Royal Neighbors is one of the nation’s largest women-led life insurance organizations. “Royal Neighbors of America has been making a difference in women’s lives since 1895,” said a spokesperson. They have participated in Make A Difference Day for nearly two decades.
