Quad Citians are helping out the hungry during the Corporate Challenge of the Student Hunger Drive. On Wednesday, February 19th, 2014, WQAD News 8 is an all day drop off location for the drive.

The drive collects money for the River Bend Foodbank. The food bank is at a new location for 2014. It's located at 4010 Kimmel Drive in Davenport. Organizers just finished a successful student hunger drive. During the corporate challenge of the hunger drive, area businesses compete to see which one can collect the most pounds of food per employee. WQAD News 8 is one of those businesses. Student Hunger Drive Director Denise Hester says that the food bank needs your help now more than ever.

"In 2013, that need has doubled," Hester said. "The River Bend Food Pantry distributed eight million pounds of food, so the need in our community continues to increase."

Wednesday, WQAD News 8 is an all day collection place. Our station is located at 3003 Park 16th Street in Moline. News 8 will be collecting non-perishable food items and money until 5 p.m. Wednesday, February 19th, 2014.

The hunger drive kicked off on February 3rd. It ends on February 28th. If you can't donate Wednesday in person, you can also donate online.
