The Sherrard School Board and the Sherrard Education Association (SEA) have reached a tentative agreement, after more than 10 hours of negotiations Sunday.

On Sunday, February 16th, 2014, the two sides met at Sherrard Junior/Senior High School to negotiate a new contract for the district's teachers. Negotiations have been going on for months.

The school board had previously offered teachers just one year contracts. The union had wanted three year contracts instead. It is unclear what kind of contract the teacher's received on Sunday.

A vote on the tentative contract agreement is scheduled for Sunday, February 23rd, 2014.

The President of the Sherrard School Board told News 8 on Saturday, February 15th, 2014 that she's optimistic the two sides will settle on a new contract.
