The Scott County Board of Supervisors hosted an economic development summit on Thursday, February 13th, 2014 at the Isle of Capri Conference Center in Bettendorf.

The board hosted the event with the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce. Thursday's keynote speaker was Iowa Economic Development Director Debi Durham. The board brought in a panel to discuss how to better develop rural areas in the county.

Durham says there's a chance more manufacturing jobs could come to the Iowa side of the river. Durham says there is great opportunity for growth in that area. Durham was also in attendance at Alcoa's ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday. She says that Alcoa is a good example of how businesses on the Iowa side of the Quad Cities can create more jobs.

Local developer Todd Raufeisen was also in attendance at Thursday's meeting. He will be at two meetings that focus on his own development later Thursday. Those deal with the old Dock Restaurant in downtown Davenport. The Dock re-development is part of a greater plan in Davenport called RiverVision.
