The Moline City Council will review plans for a new Southpark Mall on Tuesday, February 11th, 2014.

In November of 2013, News 8 obtained preliminary drawings of what the mall would look like. The mall's owner, Macerich, recently released drawings that give an updated look of the new structure. Macerich plans to demolish the northeastern corner of the mall. That's where the food court now stands. Now, there will be more outdoor entrances to the mall than what's there. Moline Mayor Scott Raes briefly touched on the Southpark Mall project in his State of the City Address.

Macerich is also building an entrance to the site from John Deere Road. That will be just to the east of the DHCU Community Credit Union. That will be near the 2400 block of John Deere Road.

Construction could start in March. Macerich hopes to have the complete project done by November of 2014. Nothing will be approved at Tuesday's meeting, but it starts at 6:30 p.m. at Moline's City Hall.
