The City of Sterling declared a Snow Emergency for Saturday, February 8, 2014.

The City of Sterling declared a Snow Emergency for Saturday, February 8, 2014.

The Snow Emergency began at 1 p.m. During the Snow Emergency parking on Snow Routes is prohibited until all snow has been cleared from the street.

From 1:30 a.m. – 5:30 a.m. parking in the Central Business District or city parking lots will not be allowed.

To assist plows as they clear the roads, odd and even parking restrictions will be in effect. On odd-numbered days of the month, drivers park on the side of the street with odd-numbered addresses, on even-numbered days, drivers should park on the even-numbered side of the street.

Vehicles will not be ticketed between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m.

Parking restrictions will reportedly terminate block by block after the snowfall stops and once all accumulated snow had been removed.

If a driver parks in a restricted or prohibited location their car may be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense.

Questions about the Snow Emergency can be directed at the Sterling Police Department at 815-632-6640 or the Public Works Department at 815-632-6657.
