The Moline School District will discuss the results of a survey it did on the future of the Ericsson School. They have a community forum on Thursday, January 30th, 2014.

There is one option that has stood out above the rest so far. District leaders have looked at making Ericsson a community center after the 2014-2015 school year. In May of 2013, the school district voted to close down Ericsson and Garfield due to budget concerns.

There are multiple options for the building though. The district has also considered a day care center and a baby sitting center in the past. Before anything is finalized, they have to decide whether a company is interested in buying or leasing the property.

The community forum starts at 6 p.m. at Ericsson School. Hamilton will close during the 2014-2015 school year to expand. Garfield and Ericsson close down at the end of the 2014-2015 school year. Hamilton will open again in 2015-2016 to meet the increase in students.
