President to Give State of the Union Address

President Obama will make his State of the Union Address on Tuesday, January 28th, 2014.

President Obama will try to sell millions of Americans on his agenda to strengthen the middle class. He is expected to highlight new executive actions for job training and retirement security.

President Obama is also interested in trying to increase the minimum wage to help boost the middle class. President Obama has vowed to use his executive authority to make a "year of action."

Congresswoman Cheri Bustos is bringing Galesburg resident Pam Davidson with her from Galesburg as her special guest. Congressman Dave Loebsack is not bringing a special guest this year. Two survivors of the Boston Marathon bombings and former NBA player Jason Collins will also be in attendance. Collins is the first openly gay player in the NBA. The address starts around 8 p.m. CT.
