The 2014 RAGBRAI Route is out, but Davenport is not part of it.

During the RAGBRAI Announcement Party on Saturday, January 25th, 2014, RAGBRAI officials revealed this year's route, which will span the northern part of hte state.

It starts for the first time ever in Rock Valley, then goes onto Okoboji, Emmetsburg, Forest City, Mason City, Waverly, Independence, and finally Guttenberg.

Those are the overnight stops. The day stops will be announced in a couple of months.

Joe Taylor, with the Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau, was in Des Moines for the announcement and spoke on the phone to News 8 moments after the route was revealed.

"Many of the towns that are on the route have not been visited by RAGBRAI for 10, 12, or 15 years, so it would have been extraordinary for RAGBRAI to return to Davenport just three years after having been here in 2011," he says. "While I'm certainly disappointed that we won't have that business coming to the Quad Cities, we still have the Quad City Times Bix 7 to look forward to on that day, an extraordinary busy summer, and no doubt Davenport and the Quad Cities will try again at some point in the future."

Taylor adds that he really wants the RAGBRAI to return to the Quad Cities in 2022, which will be the 50th Anniversary of the ride.

The 2014 RAGBRAI starts July 20th.
